In Cherryfield, Maine with Craig Fitzpatrick, ABM grad of 2010
About a year ago, we had a heart to reach out to those parents who dropped off their kids to Sunday school and then return to pick them up when it was over. In order to bring them in, we decided to push our Sunday School hour ahead by a half hour to allow for a fellowship time between the Sunday School hour and morning service. We slowly began to see some results and folks began to get to know us. Soon after, we really felt we ought have a special Sunday School class specifically for these folks. It began as a study in John but as it progressed, many of them quickly began asking the key question, “what does the Bible say about…?”, and it ended up turning into a “parenting” class based on scripture. Since then, we have seen more ladies coming and participating, hungry for what the Bible says. Some of them have begun to attend our morning and evening services. One has been facing some minor difficulties from family members because of their increased attendance at our church. One was impressed with the fact that we are “normal” people (even the pastor!) just like them. One responded to the following quote, “A Bible that’s falling apart, usually belongs to someone who isn’t”, by saying, “My goal is to someday be the owner of a Bible like this.” Since one of the ladies from our church gave her a Bible, she is quickly on her way!! Our church facebook page is almost daily “lit up” by Bible quotes from these folks and the praise just goes on and on!
Jesus says that, “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.” John 6:44. It’s awesome to see Him doing this work in front of our very eyes! “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled!” Matthew 5:6. PRAISE GOD!! Amen!
