Child Evangelism Fellowship will hold CYIA Training on NBBI campus from Sunday, July 1 to Friday, July 6, 2012.

For the past nine years I have had the blessing of working with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Northern Maine. God has given us a tremendous responsibility to reach the lost and it is our passion in CEF to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each year hundreds of boys and girls are presented with the message of salvation through various CEF sponsored ministries.

As a child, I was exposed to many CEF ministries. As I reached my teen and young adult years, I had the privilege to serve in various ministries such as Awana, Word of Life Clubs and others. One thing that I found invaluable was the training that I had received during my early teen years. For two summers, I attended a training camp called “Christian Youth In Action.” I was challenged to have a heart for the lost, to develop my relationship with the Lord, and to have confidence when sharing my faith.

One of our greatest goals is not only to share the gospel, but to equip others with the training and tools to do the same. Christ Himself said that He came for the lost and the need is as great today as it was then. CEF of Canada and CEF of Maine have partnered to bring Christian Youth In Action training to New Brunswick. NBBI has graciously agreed to host the CYIA training on their campus. CYIA is an intense training program that provides youth with the How-to’s of giving a clear and thorough presentation of the gospel while also providing opportunities to gain hands on experience.

The program is designed for ages 15 and up and will be held from Sunday, July 1 to Friday, July 6, 2012. Matthew Little, New NBBI President

We are pleased to announce that effective May 1st, 2012, Mr. Matthew Little will be the new President of New Brunswick Bible Institute. Tuesday evening, April 17, the Board of Directors, with a standing unanimous vote, elected Matt to lead the school into the future. Matt has been on the staff for four years and has served on the faculty, and as Dean of Men and athletic director. He and his wife, Dodi, have three daughters, Emma, Madison and Julianna. God bless you, Matt, as you assume this new responsibility.

Leanne (Baker ’83) Carter recently sent this letter from Austria. I thought our readers might enjoy it. Please continue to pray for Leanne and her sons, David and Jonathan.

“Thank you for your many prayers for us. We are blessed by them. It was good for us to ski together on the anniversary of Warren’s accident, to celebrate his life. The ‘mountain’ took excellent care of us. We were given lift tickets and lunch on the mountain by the company that runs the lifts. The fine people at our ski school, that the boys attended for the last 6 years, welcomed us with open arms. Their chins almost hit the floor when we walked through the door to rent skis (which they wouldn’t let us pay for). Last year, when I said good bye, I told them we would not be coming back. Hmmm, I am glad God changed my mind. At lunch, David’s ski teacher from last year spotted us and was very pleased to see us and find out how we were doing. We skied to the site of Warren’s accident and I was yet again amazed at how flat the slope was where the accident occurred. It was a very emotional moment for me.

Thank you to those who sent notes to share with my boys on the anniversary of Warren’s death, Feb. 14th. This was a very important day for me as a mother. I wanted my boys to receive their father’s teaching and catch a glimpse of heaven.

In December, I had to write a report on my plans and goals for the next two years (special thanks to my editor, Nikki, who helped me turn my diagrams, pictures, schedule and ideas into a concise report). One point that was very clear for me is that discipleship and mentoring (I like to call it ‘Adventuring’) of women in leadership and women who are wives of leaders should be a main focus. Just two weeks ago a new Bible study group of young women started meeting in my home. Three of them I have known since they were children, and now they are married and have children of their own! Yes, I have been around awhile. It is a privilege to have this precious time with them.

We are blessed to have you in our lives!

This is a combination of information from Larry (’70) and Melissa (’69), and Jason (ABM ’01) and Ita Strout. We thought you may be interested in hearing what the Lord is doing in Santa Rosa, Argentina.

“We rejoice in what the Lord has done in the past few months here. The signing for the church property will be this Friday (October 18).

On Sunday, October 9th, we celebrated the 3rd anniversary of the church. It was great to remember how God has blessed us. It has not been easy and many times it has been a great struggle to get this church started. From the start we have felt opposition to this church plant, but we see and know that God is building His church here. One family is missing from the picture, they were not able to attend that day because of a car accident.

Last week we had the privilege of meeting Erica and Roberto who live on the same block as the church. During our visit, Roberto accepted the Lord as his Saviour. Erica is a Christian. Pray that the Lord will bless this young couple and that they will start coming to our church meetings.”

Three NBBI ministry groups will be travelling this May representing our school and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Terry Anger, NBBI graduate of 1991 writes:

Approximately two years ago, God led my wife and me to found Rhema Community Bible Church to the glory of God’s name. One of our desires was to give young men who sensed the Lord’s call to pastoral ministry, introductory training through hands-on mentorship, guidance in the development of their preparational skills of expositional preaching and teaching, and the opportunity to exercise their gifts in the pulpit. Now, Having been involved in teaching God’s Word in churches, conferences and colleges over the past 20 years, God led us to begin this ministry we call “Rhema On The Road” which has taken us throughout Canada and the Eastern United States. Due to the increasing demand, God has led me to place the home church ministry into other capable hands allowing me to expand the ministry on the road, fulfilling the requests of an increasing number of churches.

Rhema is committed to encouraging both leaders and layman through seminars and conferences dealing with a number of theological themes and issues congruent with church ministry today. This summer I worked for six weeks at Living Waters Bible Camp. It was a busy and amazing summer. One of the weeks, I had a cabin of five girls, all of whom I had the previous year, two which were not saved. During the week, with the meeting and devotional times, I could tell the were thinking because of their questions but they had made no decision for Christ. They did not understand the gospel and it was frustrating because I was trying to explain it and they just could not get it. All I could do during that week was pray that God would work!

On Thursday night during campfire, after the gospel was shared again and the invitation to stay was given, all my girls stayed behind and three rededicated their lives to the Lord. One of them just listened to the gospel being presented again but did not make a decision that I know of. The other girl, Danielle, believed the gospel and got saved that night. It was amazing to see God work in her life and also to realize that I can only proclaim the gospel but God does the work in the lives of people.

Natalie is the daughter of Colby (’87) & Lesa (Hosford, ’87) Holmes, grads serving in Argentina, and grandaughter of the late Ronald Holmes (’57) & Margaret (Scott, ’57) Holmes Gualtieri who also served for years in Argentina.

I read this in Dan (ABM ’00) and Diana McKeen’s newsletter recently and thought it was worth sharing. Praise the Lord for this grad’s ministry in Equador with CrossWorld and pray for continued fruitfulness. – Larry Rushton

“I have lived in Borja for 55 years,” stated Elsa. She continued, “This is the first time someone has come into my house to explain the Bible.” Elsa’s husband, Luis, needs three valves replaced in his heart but due to complications doctors have sent him home for the remainder of his days. Those attending the weekly Adult Bible study in Borja requested Dan visit Luis and Elsa  knowing Luis’ situation was grave. It was a fruitful visit as both Luis and Elsa received Christ after a clear presentation of the Gospel. They wept, realizing their sinfulness and eagerly accepted God’s forgiveness and then expressed it was too bad their parents did not have anyone to teach them. Borja is a town full of people who need to be taught the truth of God’s Word. Please be praying God will continue to draw people to Himself through opportunities we have to share God’s Word.

On May 17, 2011, Dr. Barry Beebe concluded his faithful service as president of New Brunswick Bible Institute. The Board of Directors of NBBI wishes to express our appreciation to Barry and Linda for their years of faithful service and for allowing God to use them to touch the lives of hundreds of students in their time with us. Barry has served and led the school with integrity and passion for the cause of Christ and with the vision that NBBI be a place of unequalled training for young men and women seeking the call of God on their lives.

Dr. Robert Booker, our current Vice President, has assumed the day-to-day responsibilities of the President until a new President is appointed. Bob is supported by a strong administrative team and a committed and veteran faculty who are dedicated to the work that God has called them to at NBBI. We have been encouraged in these past weeks with a sense of unity and resolve among the staff to see that the mission of the school is fulfilled for the glory of God. We are grateful for our past, encouraged in the present, and committed to a future of continuing to train servants of God who are adequately equipped for ministry in a day of great challenge.

The Board of Directors has already begun the process of seeking the man that God would have for us as the next President of NBBI. In that process, we are assessing the needs of the school and have been formulating a presidential profile and updated job description that are relevant to the demands of leadership at this institution. Since 1944, God has blessed us with godly leadership which has guided the school through challenging times and we anticipate that God will once again meet this need as we wait on Him. Please pray with us as we work through this process. We do not want to be hasty, but we do want to be diligent in this task that lies before us.

You will be encouraged to know that Vacation with a Vision has been a huge success this year. With your generosity and the volunteer labour of many, much needed improvements are being made in the ladies’ dorm and in other areas around the campus. Our students will be thrilled with the improvements that have been made!

We would ask you to pray with us as we look to the future and for a President who will lead us with vision and passion for academic excellence in equipping new generations for service to Christ. Pray for our administration and faculty as they prepare for the 68th year of training workers for Christ, and I would once again ask that you pray for wisdom for the Board of Directors as we seek the mind of God.

It is with regret that I write to inform you that Barry and Linda Beebe are leaving NBBI and are seeking God’s direction for ministry. Barry writes, “For the past two months Linda and I have been praying and contemplating God’s will for our lives, whether here at NBBI or elsewhere. The NBBI Board of Directors has met with me and provided direction for the steps that we should take.”

Barry & Linda Beebe are truly faithful servants of the Lord who have ministered at NBBI for 11 years. We will pray earnestly for them as they seek further ministry.

Linda has exercised her gift of hospitality on campus making many of our students welcome in her home. I am reminded of her service to the board of directors at board retreats when she served our meals with elegance, table cloth, finery and all!

We will all miss Barry’s fiery preaching and unique illustrations that included eagles all over the place and a Roman suit of armour complete with 3 swords (2 battle swords and a Bible). Barry has initiated many good changes at NBBI and has represented the Lord and NBBI faithfully.

Barry and Linda, we will pray for you as you seek God’s direction and continue to serve our Lord.

Florence (Collier) McHarg, grad of 1955, was promoted to Glory, October 3, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur (Art) in 2003.

2008 ABM graduate, Dan Edwards and 1996 graduate, Stephen Thompson unite in Afghanistan. Thompson and Edwards return to Canada in mid December - PRAY!
