Listen to what others are saying about our retreats.

“Hey!!! I just wanted to tell you guys that NBBI teen retreat was the best thing ever!!!! It really let me get close to God…I met lots of new people and can’t wait to see them again.” Retreater

“My daughter attended the youth retreat the first weekend. I just wanted to tell you folks that she had an incredible weekend. She really enjoyed and learned through the teaching/preaching and she had fun with the activities as well. So, thank you NBBI for what you do and the work you all put into the youth for these retreats. She wants to go to NBBI when she is finished high school after spending the weekend there!” Mom of Retreater

NBBI is passionate about training young people in the truth of God’s Word. One of these retreats could be a life-changing experience for you. Are you willing to come and have God do a work in your life? Why not join us for a weekend!

Glenn Duff (MAY 23, 1925 – AUGUST 9, 2011)

For over 30 years Glenn Duff served as the Chairman of the New Brunswick Bible Institute Board of Directors. His leadership is remembered fondly by the board, staff, alumni and friends of NBBI. Glenn was no stranger to hard work. He was a busy dairy and potato farmer, and yet, he always made himself available to those who served under him. He was a leader who listened, and was impartial and unbiased in his judgments. He lifted many a barrel physically and many a burden spiritually. As a man of faith, Glenn began every NBBI board meeting by asking us to get on our knees in prayer. At times, midway through a meeting, he would have the board seek the wisdom of God through prayer.

Glenn was a christian role model in his love for his wife Flora, and an example of integrity to his children and grandchildren. He loved good music and must have smiled from heaven as a quartet of his grandsons gave a wonderful, Christ exalting, rendition and a choir of his grandchildren sang beautifully and harmoniously, “Great is thy Faithfulness.” His brother George spoke eloquently at the memorial service and addressed the truth that, in God’s sight, serving faithfully in the fields is equally as important as serving as a full-time Christian worker. Truly Glenn was “a man of the soil” and “a man of the spirit.”

Pastor Paul Juris, in a heartfelt message, commended Glenn and Flora for their faithful attendance at Church meetings, especially the prayer meeting. He also ex- pressed gratitude for their home being a centre of hospitality; but he made it clear, Heaven was Glenn’s final home because he had placed his trust in the work of the crucified, and risen Christ.

Glenn was loved by all our staff, for his personal interest in each of us and for his unswerving commitment to the “training of young people” to serve Christ. He had a special place in his heart for NBBI’s Campus View Farm, as farm managers, Clarence Knowles and Rob Burns would testify. He believed that the farm played an important part in the training of young people in teaching “the discipline of daily duty.” Glenn never lost sight of the importance of the individual staff members as he directed the pursuit of the organization’s goals.

I found Glenn Duff to be a man who did not faint but fought on, in faith. A small gift which was given to a staff member by Glenn has inscribed upon it the words that I believe express Glenn Duff’s honest lifestyle, “ One day at a time, only one person to please – the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our heartfelt prayers and love go out to his wife, Flora and all his beloved family. Along with them, we will miss his presence here on earth but rejoice that He is in the presence of the Lord Jesus with whom he walked his life- long journey and whose fellowship he now enjoys “face to face.”

Remember to set aside October 21-22, 2011 for our Ladies’ Conference with Gracia Burnham. We will also enjoy testimonies, special music and great fellowship.

Gracia Burnham is the widow of Martin Burnham and the mother of Jeff, Mindy and Zach. For 17 years she and Martin served with New Tribes Mission in the Philippines where Martin was a jungle pilot delivering mail, supplies and encouragement to other missionaries, and transporting sick and injured patients to medical facilities. Gracia served in various roles supporting the aviation program and also home-schooled their children–all of whom were born in the Philippines.

While celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at Dos Palmas Resort off Palawan Island, the Burnhams were kidnapped on May 27, 2001, by the Abu Sayyaf Group, a militant group of Muslims. They seized several more guests and took them to Basilan Island, an ASG stronghold. In the ensuing months some of the hostages were killed, but most were set free. From November 2001, only the Burnhams and one ther hostage remained in captivity. During their 376 days of captivity, they faced near starvation, constant exhaustion, frequent gun battles, coldhearted murder and intense soul-searching about a God who sometimes seemed to have forgotten them. On June 7, 2002, in a firefight between the Philippine military and the Abu Sayyaf Group, Martin was killed. Gracia was wounded, but was freed.

Since that time Gracia has authored two books, In the Presence of My Enemies, and To Fly Again. Her oldest son, Jeff, and his wife, Sarah, have accepted an assignment with Flying Mission Services in Botswana, Africa. Mindy is now married to Andy Hedvall, a “missionary kid” from South America. Mindy has completed her course of study at New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, WI and Andy continues in his training there. Zachary is attending Butler County Community College on a voice scholarship. Gracia resides in Rose Hill, Kansas. Because of her unique story, Gracia is a popular speaker for churches, conferences and schools.

Dear Friends & Supporters of NBBI,

On May 17, 2011, Dr. Barry Beebe concluded his faithful service as president of New Brunswick Bible Institute. The Board of Directors of NBBI wishes to express our appreciation to Barry and Linda for their years of faithful service and for allowing God to use them to touch the lives of hundreds of students in their time with us. Barry has served and led the school with integrity and passion for the cause of Christ and with the vision that NBBI be a place of unequalled training for young men and women seeking the call of God on their lives.

Dr. Robert Booker, our current Vice President, has assumed the day-to-day responsibilities of the President until a new President is appointed. Bob is supported by a strong administrative team and a committed and veteran faculty who are dedicated to the work that God has called them to at NBBI. We have been encouraged in these past weeks with a sense of unity and resolve among the staff to see that the mission of the school is fulfilled for the glory of God. We are grateful for our past, encouraged in the present, and committed to a future of continuing to train servants of God who are adequately equipped for ministry in a day of great challenge.

The Board of Directors has already begun the process of seeking the man that God would have for us as the next President of NBBI. In that process, we are assessing the needs of the school and have been formulating a presidential profile and updated job description that are relevant to the demands of leadership at this institution. Since 1944, God has blessed us with godly leadership which has guided the school through challenging times and we anticipate that God will once again meet this need as we wait on Him. Please pray with us as we work through this process. We do not want to be hasty, but we do want to be diligent in this task that lies before us.

You will be encouraged to know that Vacation with a Vision has been a huge success this year. With your generosity and the volunteer labour of many, much needed improvements are being made in the ladies’ dorm and in other areas around the campus. Our students will be thrilled with the improvements that have been made!

We would ask you to pray with us as we look to the future and for a President who will lead us with vision and passion for academic excellence in equipping new generations for service to Christ. Pray for our administration and faculty as they prepare for the 68th year of training workers for Christ, and I would once again ask that you pray for wisdom for the Board of Directors as we seek the mind of God.

We are grateful to you, our friends, alumni and supporters who make this work possible with your sacrificial gifts and prayers. We are humbled.

Gratefully In Christ,

Pastor Mitch Ross

Chairman of the Board
New Brunswick Bible Institute

Don’t miss this exciting and challenging annual event for young people ages 13 to 18 (grades 7-12). Teens will be involved in various indoor and outdoor activities such as relay games, three-on-three basketball, table games, tubing and more.

Our guest speaker, Wayne Heikkinen was born in rural Maine and received Christ at a Daily Vacation Bible School at the age of 6. His family was involved in their local church and upon Wayne’s graduation from Wayside Christian Academy, he enrolled at New Brunswick Bible Institute. At NBBI, Wayne met his life partner, Sandy and felt his call to ministry. Wayne spent time as a youth pastor in Nova Scotia and, for 23 years after that, represented Word of Life Local Church Ministries. In 2002, God led Wayne to Rock Mills Fellowship Baptist Church as Pastor. For the past years, Wayne has had the wonderful privilege of sharing in the revitalization process of this local church. The emphasis of spiritual leadership, biblical discipleship and equipping the saints produced a commitment to reaching out to the community. God has blessed this ministry. Wayne and Sandy make their home across the road from Lake Eugenia in Ontario and love to spend time with their 3 grown children (2 are married), 4 grandchildren and their dog and they enjoy gardening, landscaping, walking, travelling and entertaining.

You will also be hearing various NBBI faculty members, as they share from God’s Word during our class times and our NBBI musical groups as they share in song throughout these weekends.

The total cost for the retreat is $45 for teens and $15 for leaders. Space is limited, so register early!

Dear Friend:

God’s faithfulness continues just as He said it would. His mercy is not only new every morning but every school year, this being our 67th.

God faithfully allowed us to end the summer in the black. Our bills were paid and our finances balanced. He has given us a slight increase in attendance – 103 students with open and hungry hearts. They are a blessing to us in their attitude, behaviour and passion for Christ.

We want to end the 2010 year faithfully, on a spiritually high note, and begin 2011 in tune with the Lord’s will for this school.

Your faithful assistance is now greatly appreciated. Please pray for: (1) God to be glorified through this ministry each day (2) increased enrolment (3) finances to pay our bills over a long, cold, dark winter (4) our graduates to make a great impact around the world for Christ.

Our general operating account will soon reach bottom. Parschauer Hall and our waste treatment project are on hold. These are challenging days for many Bible schools and Christian organizations. Our Board of Directors is faithfully planning to adequately handle our many needs and yet propel our school forward.

Please contact me at any time with questions or suggestions. Follow our web page for up-to-date information regarding school activities and future events.

Your faithful gift would be appreciated so much at this time.

We are seeking to remain faithful to our original purpose and mandate to train Christian workers for the fields of the world.

You can send your tax-deductible donation to:

New Brunswick Bible Institute
2335 Route 103
Victoria Corner, NB E7P 1C7

To give by credit card please call us at: (506) 375-9000 (8AM- 5PM Atlantic).

In Christ,

Dr. R. Barry Beebe, NBBI President

OneBlood is an acappella quintet consisting of Gregg Ernst and four of his sons Joshua, John, Peter and Elijah. These men sing motets, hymns, spirituals, and gospel songs in four and five part harmony. In their music, they attempt to give Christians a renewed sense of God’s love, beauty, and grace, and non-Christians a view of God’s reality, holiness, and truth.

OneBlood formed in 2009 to be the touring subgroup of the Ernst Family. This family has been performing since 2001, appearing on national radio and television, releasing three CD’s, and touring the Maritimes, Ontario, and Northeastern USA.

Gregg farms on the First Peninsula near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and is also a professional blacksmith. At his shop, the ironworks for the Bluenose and Bluenose II were forged. Greg was a participant in the World’s Strongest Man competitions. He still holds the official world record for the back lift of 5,340 pounds. More importantly than being an iron-man, Gregg is a Christian man who seeks to live for and serve His Lord Jesus Christ.

On Monday, April 19th at approximately 1:30 p.m. the New Brunswick Bible Institute Registrar opened two letters from Ghana, Africa, one of which contained a suspicious white power. The RCMP were immediately called and they, in turn, alerted fire departments, the ambulance service and HAZ MAT (hazardous material response team). The school office complex was evacuated and three employees, who had come in contact with the envelopes, were isolated. Staff and students were notified and our campus was cordoned off. A thorough investigation was conducted of the school office and the material in question. Tests revealed the powdery substance to be non-threatening or harmful to those who came in contact with it, anyone on our campus, or the response teams.

We highly commend the efficiency, professionalism and dedication of the various police, EMS, fire departments and HAZ-MAT teams who responded to this call. We are thankful no one was harmed or injured as a result of this alarm. We are very appreciative of the federal and provincial governmental services and civic authorities who provide such a high level of protection for Canadian citizens.

Any further questions, concerns or requests for interviews should be directed to the President’s Office at New Brunswick Bible Institute.

Several hundred men from the Maritimes, New England and as far away as Saskatchewan flooded onto the NBBI campus for a challenging, yet rewarding, Men for God Rally this weekend. Lives were touched, as Dr. Michael Loftis, President of ABWE- Harrisburg, opened the Word of God and spoke directly, without hesitation, to our attentive men.

Tremendous fellowship, great food, uplifting music and good open laughter were enjoyed by each man who attended. High Meadow Quartet ministered with great effectiveness during each rally. What a taste of heaven!

A friendly "Hose Rolling" competition

The Firefighter theme was a huge success as area firemen demonstrated the jaws of life, thermal imaging equipment and firefighter skills. The Hartland Fire Department used the rescue equipment in our gymnasium to completely cut apart a car, and carry it piece by piece outdoors… all in under 20 minutes! The Woodstock Fire Team used a thermal imaging camera to “rescue” a man in a dark, smoke-filled room off stage, while a video feed from the camera was shown on the big screen in the auditorium.

Dr. Michael Loftis challenged us to be "Battle Ready Men."

NBBI seized this opportunity to make presentations and show our support to both the Hartland and Woodstock firemen, for their dedicated and tireless service to our communities.

Here, in the final rally, Dr. Loftis challenges the men to the key of spiritual success. Now, we must “steal away” and reflect upon all that God has done in and through His faithful servant.

What a GREAT weekend!

“Planned Giving” means making a charitable gift in a way that maximizes your tax and estate benefits. Allowable gifts include cash, gifts in kind like stocks and real estate, and a right to a future payment such as life insurance proceeds. Your planned gift can be a “present gift” that NBBI uses now, or a “deferred gift, that is only available in the future, generally after your death.

You may want to consider giving to NBBI through a cash donation; gift in kind – stock or real estate; bequest under a will – RRSP, RRIF or capital property; insurance policy; or another option. At upcoming conferences, we will have people available to discuss these options and answer your questions. However, in the meantime, if you are interested in finding out more about Planned Giving, you can contact us by clicking here.

We are committed to this project and are anxiously awaiting God’s green light to start promoting this great project once again.

“Sufficient Grace” Ladies’ Conference

November 13-14, 2009

Guest speaker – Faith Crosby

Come ready to meet new friends and catch up with old friends as we share with each other through fellowship, praise and worship. Come ready to be challenged from God’s Word and renewed in your personal walk with Him. You won’t want to miss out so… Save this date!

Faith Crosby was raised in a Godly Christian home in Metropolitan Toronto. She gave her heart to the Lord at the age of eight and was nurtured at Melrose Baptist Church where she was active from childhood. Faith became a gifted pianist, and was able to contribute to that area of church ministry as well as Sunday school teaching and leadership in youth ministry.

Faith met and married a Christian businessman, who in due course was called to full time ministry and became a pastor in Ontario. It was during their second pastorate in 1970 that she felt a definite call to ladies’ ministry, and doors began to open.

Faith is the mother of four children, three boys and one girl. Today all four are married and she is the grandmother of eight grandchildren. She continues to support her husband Dr. Grover Crosby in his ministry.

Faith has become well known as a Women’s Conference speaker in Canada, and has ministered internationally as well. She travels widely to share in the growth and needs of women across the country. Many ladies have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour through her ministry. Others have found new hope, freedom and victory through Christ. Many, including pastors’ wives, seek her counsel.

Faith ministers on themes such as: Encouraging One Another in God’s Family, Family and Marriage, Prayer, Revival, Evangelism and Victorious Christian Living. She is an avid reader, and continues to equip herself for the changing times in which we live. Her messages are always current and full of helpful illustrations. They maintain a strong Biblical authority.

Faith’s warm heart and sensitive spirit provide her with the unique ability to draw audiences closer to God. Her vibrant love for her Lord will undoubtedly encourage you to seek and experience more of God’s peace and direction for your life.

Rob and Audrey Burns finished their ministry at NBBI the end of May, 2009 and are now launching out in a new direction to serve our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rob, a graduate of NBBI, his wife Audrey and their children, Saralee and Wesley, joined our staff in 1993. Rob faithfully served as Farm Manager, Dean of Men, Christian Service Co-ordinator, Campus Host, Gardener, Angelos Team Leader and a member of many of our school committees.

Audrey served faithfully as Food Service Manager, Assistant Cook, Ladies’ Bible Study Leader, Gardener, Hostess and in many behind the scenes capacities.

Rob and Audrey set a high example for what it means to be a servant of God, a servant to the saints and a servant to lost men and women.

Our staff and students have highly regarded their friendship, partnership and sacrificial service. We prayerfully wish them well as they move on to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jean Marc and Saralee Bridgeman joined our staff August 6, 2009.

Jean Marc will serve as Food Services Manager, part-time maintenance and various other school ministries. Jean Marc is a native of Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, graduated from our four year, Advanced Biblical Ministries program (1995) and has a bachelor’s degree in teaching ESL from the University of Quebec in Trois Rivières.

Saralee will serve as assistant to the chef in our Food Services department and on our faculty as English instructor. Saralee is one of our former campus kids, a graduate of our one year (1999) program and has a Bachelor of Arts degree (French & History) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick.

The Bridgemans have been teaching in the Quebec public school system, serving in their local church in positions of leadership and youth ministries, as well as working at Christian camps in Quebec and Germany.

We are so glad that God has led Jean Marc and Saralee to be co-workers in this servant training ministry. They are connecting well with our staff and students and will be a blessing to this ministry.
